International Conference on Health Emergency Response in the Asia Pacific

On January 28-29, 2015, IIGR will participate in and help support a conference on “Military Assistance to International Health Emergency Response: Examining Frameworks for an Ebola-like Disaster in the Asia Pacific.”

The accelerating spread of Ebola virus in West Africa has demonstrated the profound effect of disease on society, disruption to intra and intergovernmental activity, dislocation of economies and the devastating human toll from illness and death.

While regional countries implement steps to protect their borders from the incursion of a transmissible disease, the larger global powers leverage their military and medical resources to bring humanitarian aid to affected countries.

This 2-day conference features a tabletop exercise and high-level discussion regarding the military response to a future complex health emergency in the Asia-Pacific. The conference will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The conference is managed by Banyan Analytics, an Asia-Pacific focused, not-for-profit research and analysis institute of Analytic Services Inc. IIGR will participate in and help fund the conference, and we look forward to cooperating with Banyan Analytics in other ventures in the future.
