On June 1, 2015, Kati Scanlon of the University of South Florida joined IIGR as our fourth student intern.
During her time at IIGR, Kati will do a research report on the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program, a national program that teaches ordinary Americans the fundamentals of protecting themselves, their families, and their fellow citizens during day-to-day emergencies as well as larger disasters. This includes, for example, fire safety, the proper use of a fire extinguisher, emergency first aid, basic search and rescue, and other information and techniques.
Besides doing her research, Kati also completed a 15-hour CERT training course to make her better prepared for emergencies.
Kati will be with us until August.
