Our second intern is working with us now.
Her name is Ms. Teresa Johnson, and she is a senior at the Middle Tennessee State University. Teresa came to IIGR through the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, and she is working with Leo as Leo’s research assistant.
Teresa’s main assignment is to research the issue of disaster volunteerism in the US and Japan. Why do people volunteer to help in disasters? What kinds of work do the volunteers do? What are the strengths and the limitations of disaster volunteers? How can disaster volunteerism be supported and strengthened? Teresa will examine these and related questions while she is with us here at IIGR through December 12.
