In May of 2018, Dr. Maki Fukami attended the annual meeting of National Alliance of Radiation Readiness (NARR). NARR is a is a coalition of public health, healthcare, and emergency management organizations.  

In May of 2018, Dr. Maki Fukami trained the Japanese Representative of the State Department Leadership Program.  

In January of 2018, Dr. Maki Fukami visited the Washington D.C. Emergency Management Agency, Maryland Emergency Management Agency, Highway Emergency Management Agency, and the United States Department of Transpiration for Nexco USA’s Emergency Management Training. The National Academy held a workshop on Traffic Emergency Management.

In January of 2018, Dr. Fukami visited the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and met with the Chairman, Kristine Svinicki. NRC ensure the safe use of radioactive materials for beneficial civilian purposes while protecting people and the environment. During the visit, members discussed nuclear power policies in Fukushima.
