In March of 2017, Hon. Masako Mori, a member of the House of Councillors and the former Minister of State joined IAEM Japan as the Honorary President.

In March of 2017, Dr. Akiko Yamanaka, former member of the House of Representatives, and Special Ambassador for the World Tsunami Awareness Day of Japan, visited IAEM. World Tsunami Awareness Day supports the development of both national and community-level disaster risk reduction strategies in order to save people from disasters.

In the April issue of Forbes Japan, Dr. Maki Fukami introduced a quote in “100 Great Words of Game Changers.”

In October of 2016, the students from the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management visited the IIGR office and met Dr. Fukami. During the visit, views and opinions on disaster measurements were exchanged.
