The International Institute of Global Resilience (IIGR), a think tank dedicated to improving the readiness of the emergency management community, is proud to announce Mr. Leo Bosner as Director of Training, Education and Research. In his role as Director, Mr. Bosner will help develop and deliver emergency management training and education modules, and conduct research on major issues and challenges in emergency management.

“Leo Bosner is a well-respected expert in the field of emergency management, boasting many years of experience at FEMA and educating the community on an international level, through his published research,” said Dr. Maki Fukami, president of IIGR. “I am thrilled to work with as knowledgeable an individual as Leo and look forward to the development of IIGR and its programs as he becomes a permanent member of our team.”

For nearly three decades Mr. Bosner served as an emergency management specialist with FEMA, where he’s seen the evolution of emergency management at the national and global level. The findings from this research were published in the paper Emergency Management inJapan.

“I have enjoyed the opportunity to work with IIGR and am excited to join this group of dedicated and experienced scientists on a long term basis,” said Mr. Bosner. “IIGR fills a much needed space in the international emergency management community, bringing together experts in the field from around the world, and highlighting challenges of areas with developing emergency management policies, likeJapan “

Mr. Bosner holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Master’s Degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
